LETTER FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Dear Workforce Development Professionals:
It has been another eventful year for our association! Look at what we can accomplish when we work together! We have submitted a request for recognition as a State Chapter of the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals, granted Missouri Association for Workforce Development Professional Basic Certification to 18 members, increased MAWD membership by 25%, instated use of advanced technology (i.e. E-folio) for professional development as a membership benefit (attend our training during the summer conference), organized our first annual Legislative Workshop (plan to attend on January 13th & 14th), partnered with our stakeholders (i.e. TEAM), and began preparations for our annual summer conference. In brief, I am looking forward to another eventful year as we continue with our accomplishments and fulfill our goals set forth in our Strategic Plan.
I wish each of you and your families a very, Happy and prosperous New Year!
Respectfully,
Kimberly S. O'Hara, President

YOUR INPUT IS NEEDED...
For the Missouri State of the Workforce Report, 2003
In order to prepare Missouri workers to assist their employers to be more competitive in the 21st Century, Governor Holden has asked the Missouri Training & Employment Council (MTEC) to prepare a report that identifies gaps in skills and education of the workforce. MTEC contracted with the, nationally recognized, Corporation for a Skilled Workforce and, along with over 60 workforce investment system practitioners, business and labor leaders worked over the past year to develop recommendations for improving Missouri's workforce investment system.
As a member of MAWD, you are strongly encouraged to voice your opinion of the Report and to offer suggestions and/or comments. You can do so by logging on to their website. MTEC will be happy to accept comments after the January 5th deadline.
