I'd like to welcome all of our new full and trial members to the Missouri Association for Workforce Development.  We are proud to have them join our association, and welcome them all to our professional "family".
 
MAWD is Missouri's premiere workforce development association, and our membership is a diverse and multi-talented group of professionals from across the state.  Our commitment is to help you become the consummate workforce professional through training and development opportunities, networking resources and helping you be informed on legislative and administrative actions.  This is all to help you do what you do best, identifying and implementing solutions to meet your customer's needs.
 
There are many benefits to being a MAWD member, and more are being developed all the time.  Please read through the following information to see what our association offers to assist you.  We hope to see you at our annual summer conference in July.

Get Involved in a Committee

LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE
Purpose: To remain proactive in the review of federal and state legislation which impacts workforce development; to keep the association's members informed on the issues, and if necessary call for action which would best serve its interest in promoting workforce development.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Purpose: To strengthen the Missouri Association for Workforce Development by enhancing the member's professional skills.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Purpose: To promote membership into the association through development of promotional materials, activities and membership entitlements; to ensure activities are planned that will result in members' growth and satisfaction with the association.

AWARDS COMMITTEE
Purpose: To recommend awards of recognition in specific categories, which encompass the scope of activities of members in the association; to solicit nominations of worthy candidates and select recipients.

POLICY COMMITTEE
Purpose: To draft policy statements regarding items affecting workforce development and develop procedures that relate to the internal administration of Missouri ACTE; to recommend action on ACTE and Missouri ACTE resolutions; to make recommendations to the executive committee on changes in MAWD's constitution and bylaws.

PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE
Purpose: To evaluate, recommend and carryout development of programs for MAWD/Missouri ACTE's summer conference; to coordinate program development with the designated DESE program planner; to consider, whenever possible, sponsoring workshops at other state and regionally planned conferences to promote awareness of job training and vocational education issues.

DIVERSITY ACTION COMMITTEE
Purpose: To encourage minority leadership, greater participation of minorities in employment opportunities, and to address issues of minority job training professionals and vocational educators.

PUBLIC INFORMATION COMMITTEE
Purpose: To inform the general public and target audiences of the contributions made by job training and vocational education to the economic and social welfare of Missouri citizens; to keep members informed of activities of the association and others in the job training community.
